Chronology of Sherwood Dungeon Years 2006 to 2009
Old Gods' (OG) attack against Sherwood Dungeon - March 2006
Sherwood Dungeon was officially released on this date and was superior to Classics in every way which led to many players transferring over for the new graphics, rooms and dungeon. However, this annoyed many powerful hackers from Sherwood Classics who were unable to exploit Sherwood Dungeon as well as they could Classics. These hackers came together to form OG (The Old Gods) who pledged to destroy Gene Endrody (Creator of Sherwood). Thus, began OG's hacking campaigns against Gene.

The Old Gods were established in March 2006, founded by Magneto. It is later on also led by Apocalypse, Killjoy, and Nara. The founders' goals were to originally force the reappearance of the Sherwood Classic link back into the Maidmarian.com homepage, which was taken off previously by Sir Gene (Gene Endrody), in order to preserve Classics. However, over time they focused on warring with Sherwood Dungeon (or more appropriately, its players), whom they considered to be weak and inferior in every way. This enmity and hostility towards Sherwood Dungeon players (which was already considerable before the Old Gods were even created) were further stirred by the propaganda's of its leaders, most notably the Magneto Doctrine of Classic Supremacy (which has gained both followers and enemies), which states that "Dungeon-born's are inherently inferior to Classic players, and are to be treated as such." The OG ferociously attacked every new player joining the Sherwood Dungeon game. However, the game continued to populate at a rapid rate. The OG's continued their assault regardless, throughout 2006, and stepped up their attack in 2007 (more on this later).
Before we continue, lets be clear about what servers were. During this period, the game was so heavily populated that it required hundreds of rooms across 3 different servers known as Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. Ruby was an infamous server known as "Hack central" because as the name implies, it was heavily populated by cheats using GM (God Mode), which froze one's HP and made them immortal. Emerald and Sapphire was where most of the English speaking clans were and where the majority of history takes place...

Calm before the storm - Spring 2006
During this early and mysterious period of Sherwood History, many of the first impactful clans in Sherwood dungeon history were establishing themselves. These were: BW (Black Warriors), AoD (Army of Darkness), DH (Dream Haunters), DD (Dark Destroyers), KO (Knights of Old), AOK (Army of Kings), and AOH (Assassins of Honor). AOK were a small clan made up of strong fighters such as Cj and Fallz, and were the King's of Ruby, while AOH, also in Ruby, were a large force and would continue to grow and play a role in the great war to come. While on Emerald, DH, AOD, and BW were about to engage in one of the longest and gruesome wars Sherwood has and will ever see. BW (Black Warriors), was founded by WarriorChief, and were the largest clan at this point in which they quickly established themselves as the first number 1 clan. |
Superpowers Clash - Spring 2006
WarriorChief-BW had an early start on the game and actively recruited every warrior he could from Sherwood Classic and heavy advertising by Gene Endrody (he pumped a lot of money into the game during these years). The BW army rapidly grew in size and thus, WarriorChief quickly lost respect for those who were "beneath BW". Other clans were also able to take advantage of the many new players joining the game notably DH and AOD. DH, the next biggest clan after BW, was founded by Hades and would end up becoming mortal enemies of BW due to several heated arguments between Hades and WarriorChief. WarriorChief was hot-tempered and was known for kicking out clan members for simple things such as not wearing the colour grey. Hades was not a pushover like most and had no respect for those he considered inferior. Hades saw BW as nothing but overgrown cancer to Sherwood, whereas WarriorCheif saw DH as insignificant. DH and BW ended up inevitably going to war, usually throughout the whole day and would fill up rooms with 40 - 50 members (rooms were not capped then). However, BW slightly overwhelmed DH each time with their many allies, most notably RDS (Royal Dutch Soldiers), which was known as 'The Coalition'. DH also had one notable and faithful ally, AOD (Army of Darkness).

The Great Rebellion - Summer 2006
DH and AOD put every effort into trying to annihilate BW, however, BW was strongly resisting each attack; their will was unbreakable. BW barely had to launch an attack as they were confident in their defensive capabilities. However, devastating event soon occurred which almost led to BW's demise. The mighty RW (Red Warriors) was born! Founded by Darklord (formerly known as JIMMY-BW), were a clan made up of rebels, who broke away from BW to form the greatest rebellion in Sherwood history. DH and AOD were ecstatic with this news as the once seemingly unbeatable BW were now a wounded lion. These ex-BW members ended up revolting against BW's leadership by changing from the colour black to the colour red. BW did not take them seriously which further intensified the rebellion and thus they became known as the "Red Warriors". Various reasons lead to the mutiny, one being the constant war BW had with DH and AOD, which was seen as "too aggressive" and the other being a break down in respect of the chain of command. Due to this run of bad luck, BW ended up losing more than 40% of its members who became Red Warriors. DH and AOD seized this opportunity and began to gain the upper-hand on BW, or so it seemed...

Pathos of DH and the Rise of a New Threat - Summer 2006
DH and AOD opportunistically allied with RW and all three began bombarding the fragile BW. By this point, many people believed this was going to be the fall of the mighty Black Warriors. However, RW became inactive due to BW's weakened state "BW won't last, so let us relax". This was a big mistake on RW's part where they should have seized the opportunity to destroy BW with DH and AOD and steal their members once and for all. At this point AOD began to fall from the scene. BW used this opportunity to reorganize and recruit its way back to becoming a dominate force once again. (Due to this big mistake on RW's part, BW would continue to be a well known and powerful clan throughout most of Sherwood's history! Who know's what Sherwood's history would've been like without BW around).
After BW's reorganisation, DH started having serious issues of its own, due to leadership problems after Hades quit Sherwood. This led to a rebellion within DH, and the revolting members formed a new clan called BH which soon faded, however, they ensured DH's destruction. BW and the coalition (Notably RDS and NL Night Lords) continued to reign supreme. However, a more powerful force was brewing on the horizon. From the death of DH gave birth to the clan (), led by Exile, who continued DH's legacy and was even more determined than Hades to destroy BW. () would bide its time, and attack smaller clans before attacking BW.

The Mighty Horde - Summer 2006
BW had so many enemies by this point, as BW were "the clan to beat" and so the time was right for Exile to strike. He organized the creation of a coalition known as “The Horde” forming the largest force Sherwood has ever seen. The Horde consisted of: (), RW, and an elite clan known as KO, Knights of Old. KO was founded by BigSTEEL and was a "good friend" of Exile (in quotation marks and you'll see why later). They were small in size but were made up of strong known fighters, such as BigSTEEL, Snake, Lubu, Fate and many more legends due to their unique recruiting method.

To gain entry into KO you had to beat or draw with BigSTEEL or Thiet, thus, only harbouring the best fighters. This ensured their members were the most dominant fighters in Sherwood. They also adapted well to raids and would prove an annoyance to BW. KO would consistently wear down BW with their elite PVP skills while the main forces of The Horde ( () and RW ) would fight BW head-on. But that wasn't all. A new dangerous enemy, known as AOH (Assassins of Honour), a massive and aggressive clan that had conquered Ruby, would seek glory in dominating the other servers. EcX (Elite Chaos X), founded by Modem, was one of the few rivals of AOH in Ruby, but they had fallen and escaped to Emerald, thus, freed up AOH to expand outwards.
AOH's first stop was Emerald where they knew for a while that BW were the rulers there. Thus, they wasted no time in allying with BW's enemy, RW, and would go on to launch several attacks against BW for a while before retiring back to Ruby. By this point, BW was getting fucked from every angle by The Horde and by AOH. However, BW had their key ally known as NL (Night Lords) to help them get through the struggle so things were manageable. Until...
Plight of BW - Autumn 2006
The Horde knew that BW was still strong with their allies, and thus, The Horde ended up in several battles against The Night Lords, where BW refused to assist their ally. NL was fairly easily defeated by the overwhelming force and thus succumb to pressure; they surrendered themselves to The Horde. The reason why BW backstabbed NL wasn't clear at first, but later on, Exile himself had said he manipulated the situation. NL officially left BW's side and joined The Horde, of which, they grew in size and were now an even bigger threat than before. To make matters worse, their beloved WarriorChief, the founder of BW, became completely inactive and a new Chief, known as Integrity took over. BW was feeling the pressure and struggled to continue normal daily activities such as recruiting. After many battles and many victories, The Horde gathered all its might to try and destroy BW once and for all and take over their base. This led to the all-out famous bloodbath battle, where The Horde launched an all-out attack and crushed BW with overwhelming force, as shown below. The horde then set up a second base within BW's base. BW was in big trouble.

BW eventually abandoned their base in Emerald and relocated to Sapphire. They were mostly pushed out of their base by KO due to KO members constantly harassing the dwindling BW forces. KO kept reminding them of their major defeat and how the base belonged to them now and not BW.
Mortal Enemies become friends?! - Autumn 2006
Days later, The Horde gave chase to the retreating BW's in Sapphire, but BW disappeared again and was nowhere to be seen. The Horde began to settle down thinking BW was pretty much finished with when BW still had a lot of members well hidden in a "secret base within the dungeon". Many players claimed they kept seeing a large number of BW's running throughout the dungeon, but it was hard to track them down and prove it. Eventually, The Horde split up completely where BigSTEEL kept KO in BW's Sapphire base, () laid low in Ruby, and RW moved back to the Emerald server where they ended up fighting a new enemy, known as DD (Dark Destroyers), a reborn powerful clan from 2006 and Sherwood Classic. RW was being overpowered and was on the verge of defeat. BW would then seize this opportunity to come out of stealth and aggressively attack KO. At this point () was already on its way to save RW from annihilation, and it worked, The Horde overpowered DD. DD soon faded away and would never be a threat again. At this point, KO was struggling against the overwhelming BW forces and needed urgent assistance. KO's reputation was on the line. And at the worst time possible for KO, RW members began to talk about rebelling against The Horde. They started "making fun" of Exile and The Horde, for various reasons, which ultimately led to Exile kicking RW out of The Horde. The main reason RW were mocking Exile was due to the recent discovery that Exile, the leader of () and the creator of The Horde, was also BigSTEEL, the founder of KO. Thus, BigSTEEL and Exile was the same person all along! This meant the majority of The Horde was actually under his control, which allowed him to manipulate the voting system they had; deciding the course of action RW, (), and KO would take. The name BigSTEEL soon faded away, and he became known as just 'Exile' from this point on. From this discovery, RW members realised they were manipulated and felt betrayed. RW members were already previously questioning their membership within The Horde "why are we taking orders from Exile and BigSTEEL? We can take out BW on our own". The discovery that they were both the same person was the final straw. RW was glad to leave The Horde behind and would be forced to seek peace talks with BW to avoid fighting the remaining Horde on their own. BW felt they had no choice but to accept peace with RW which shortly led to an alliance.

The Great War Continues - Winter 2006
RW reuniting with BW was shocking as RW was born out of pure hatred for BW. RW had no choice but to ally with their former brothers, as The Horde were out for revenge and had recently required a new member to The Horde a clan known as sK, led by Lance (Lance was an ex-BW). BW were now reawakened. The Horde ( sK, KO, () ) line up and prepare for battle in BW's base while looking upon the newly formed BW and RW alliance with the utmost contempt.

The Horde clash head to head with BW throughout the remainder of 2006. Neither side gives way and thus the great war enters into 2007 where a new dark force awaits them.
Sherwood Dungeon is Under Attack! - Spring 2007
BW and RW combined, created a new powerful force that clashed head on with The New Horde ( (), KO, and sK ). The battles were long and gruesome , going back and forth with each other, until... a new threat had arrived from the Sherwood Classic version of Sherwood dungeon. OG (The Old Gods), led by the long feared and respected Magneto, had returned to destroy Sherwood Dungeon.

OG (The Old Gods), led by the long feared and respected Magneto, had returned to destroy Sherwood Dungeon.
Magneto began boot hacking both BW and The Horde in the middle of their battle, while the rest of OG ganged up on whoever was left (Booting was a hack which could specifically target players and kick them out of the game by targeting their shockwave player).
BW fled from the battle immediately as there had been talks that OG also knew how to ban people from the game. The Horde wasn't stupid either and soon followed BW in retreating. BW and The Horde met up in a temporary truce due to OG running amok across Sherwood Dungeon. During the truce, they agreed to form a non-aggression pact until it was safe to continue the war. OG continued their war against Gene (creator of the game) and the Sherwood Dungeon "inferior" community. Gene was powerless to stop them as they knew how to unban themselves. They continued to mass boot players from the game.
BW at war with themselves?! - Spring 2007
Shortly after the ceasefire, RW started becoming inactive, and BW was having major trouble with in-clan fighting, thus The Horde no longer saw a threat and so broke up and disbanded on January 6th 2007. Due to the hardships faced by The Horde, notably KO, Chief-Integrity-BW came under heavy fire from the BW council and more than 70% of the clan. Integrity did not participate enough in the war with The Horde and was subsequently blamed for the troubles BW were facing. Integrity made it very difficult for BW to get him to step down as he was claiming that BW was his clan and that nobody could replace him. This angered the council who eventually forced him to step down. He was then replaced by Chief-Laggin-BW. BW soon became active again and began regaining strength. The ex-Chief Integrity, became incredibly jealous over Chief-Laggin bringing BW back from the brink of death, which of course was justifying the removal of Integrity. Thus, integrity began sabotaging BW's website, eventually deleting the website and hindering BW's form of communication. This wounded BW, but Laggin was still able to promote the growth of BW. At the same time, Magneto and his OG had failed to destroy Sherwood Dungeon. They simply could not stop the Sherwood Dungeon players from coming back while hundreds upon hundreds of new players were constantly joining the game, thus they left the game. However, OG did accomplish forcing Gene to leave the Sherwood Classic server open for the next few years.

DH return! - Spring 2007
After hearing about the fall of OG, and the return of BW, Exile would shortly return to Sherwood as he could not allow BW to regain their position as the most powerful clan. Exile needed a plan to destroy BW, however, The Horde was out for the count, due to its recent collapse. Bringing back the once-mighty DH was the only viable option, thus, with both Virus' and Killers blessing and support (Key DH members), Exile encouraged the remake of DH under the leadership of Forge, and Exile joined as an adviser.

Soon after, DH had recruited enough members to begin its attack. However, by this point, BW was too strong to defeat as they always had a full base which made it near impossible to raid them with sufficient numbers. DH was also not as strong as they once were, although they still managed to stay relevant and win many battles, most notably against UA (Unholy Alliance), a veteran clan, and against a rookie clan known as DV (Deo Volente) later in the year. The picture above is of DH easily disposing of UA, of which UA would become dust in the wind.
A New Enemy Approaches, DH are in trouble! - Summer 2007
By this point, DH became even more reckless with its verbal attacks on others. DH was disgusted by how "noob" clans were able to grow so easily and were notably known for trash-talking everyone they deemed inferior to them. This made them incredibly unpopular with the majority of clans which would soon be their downfall. A new enemy force would approach DH from a faraway land, known as the Emerald server, which would be devastating for DH but great news for BW. This new force approaching from the distance was known as EW (Elite Warriors) and were founded and led by Eternal, a prominent figure in Sherwood history who would later join Riffs

This new force approaching from the distance was known as EW (Elite Warriors) and were founded and led by Eternal, a prominent figure in Sherwood history who would later join Riffs
The lead up to EW becoming an enemy of DH and ally of BW, began in the early months of 2007, back in the Emerald server, where FFL (Fighters for life) and EW (Elite Warriors) were mortal enemies, engaged in many battles, where EW sought to destroy the "friendly and kind-hearted clan". The war began against FFL when Eternal of EW was originally an FFL member and decided to revolt against them due to FFL being "too soft and too friendly". Eternal wanted FFL to be seen as an elite clan and to dominate Sherwood "why should FFL bow down to everyone when we have the power to destroy them all?", but FFL just wanted to be allies and super friendly with everyone "we want a peaceful community", thus, Eternal rebelled and took a few like-minded FFL members with him to create the mighty EW. FFL was still a slightly larger clan and had many friends, including Reptile, leader of AW, who would have his men name-hide in FFL to help ward off "evil". FFL and friends would make it very difficult for Eternal to conquer FFL and eventually ended up in a stalemate. This allowed EW to fall back and reorganize to create an even larger force, one which he would later take to help destroy DH.
EW ventures over to the Sapphire server, with many of Emerald's fighters, where he finds an "evil player" known as Exile from DH. Even for Eternal's standards, Exile was "pure evil". EW saw the Sapphire server as chaotic and blamed DH for it after seeing DH trying to destroy everyone and constantly bombarding clans with verbal abuse. Below are pictures of the founder of DH trash-talking BW and UA (There are barely any pictures remaining of the past, however, DH trashing other clans was so common that it wasn't hard finding these).

After seeing how "evil" DH were, Eternal ordered EW to launch an aggressive assault against DH, which at first was more annoying for DH than anything. But then... Eternal's EW would soon ally with BW and support them in their campaign to destroy DH. DH soon started to lose momentum, due to the constant attacks they were receiving, which caused inward fighting within DH. Members of DH were blaming Exile for provoking too many clans at once. Thus, history was doomed to repeat itself as DH, yet again, faced another rebellion by a prominent DH figure, known as Virus, who took control of DH by force and renamed it to DA. Exile then "quit" although some sources say he was kicked out by the council and was offered up as a bargaining chip to negotiate a peace treaty with EW. Eternal refused to accept the peace treaty as he knew DH would still be a threat and thus continued to fight alongside BW. This was the end to DH on October 2007 and BW were mostly credited with the defeat of DH on the popular news site, Daily_Sherwood, created by Lance. Lance was constantly giving all the press to BW and DH, and so EW received very little credit.
Old foes unite against a bigger threat - Summer 2007
EW returned to the Emerald server after the defeat of DH where they reignited their campaign to destroy FFL. Eternal would later quit EW and shockingly join KO with his former enemy Exile, the guy he labelled as "evil". UA was beginning to weaken by this point and thus a few UA members formed a new and soon to be powerful clan, known as GW (Ghosts of War), founded by Punisher. However, this was a friendly break away and thus UA and GW allied

These new Ghost Warriors would soon haunt Sherwood and eventually become a deadly threat to all those who stood in their way. Punisher saw BW as an obstacle to GW's greatness, even though BW by this point became very passive and became known for just sitting around in their base but were still the favored clan to attack and defeat. GW engaged in many battles against BW, with GW winning most of them. Video below is one of many battles where GW completely overwhelmed BW.
BW were beginning to fall apart and GW started to become a threat to even BW's enemies. Thus, KO came back on the scene. KO, in a big surprise, ended up siding with their mortal enemies BW in a number of battles against GW and their allies RE. By this point, BW were losing stability as their higher ranks became increasingly inactive; leaving their mid-ranked members to try and sort out the mess. BW still managed to put up a fight but GW were truly the dominate force where BW and KO would eventually end up giving up against GW and RE. BW would use this opportunity to work on fixing its serious clan-threatening internal issues. Although Laggin-BW had previously saved BW from self-destructing, his higher ranks were becoming very inactive and laggin was hesitant to replace them so over time the clan became over saturated with inexperienced lower ranks.
During the end of summer 2007, GW were under attack by many smaller clans who were out to prove themselves against the new number 1 clan. EcX, one of the stronger clans from Ruby would try its luck against GW. EcX was a foreign clan to GW and thus GW would at first struggle to beat EcX's gorilla warfare tactics. However, GW would eventually find out where EcX were based and go on to inflict great damage to EcX. This lead to EcX becoming demoralised and activity greatly fell.
As EcX began to fall, Ruby began to fell into the hands of the Spanish as EcX were part of a group nicknamed "the border patrol" in Ruby who helped prevent the "Mexicans" there from spreading all over Ruby. The remaining English Ruby clans united, notably MOD, POW (Prisoners of War) and ex-AOK members, wearing the color red, and attacked the Spanish clans which failed due to overwhelming numbers. Thus, instead, the united Ruby clans gave up fighting the Spanish and began an attack on clans in other servers. This became known as 'server wars'. The English speaking clans of Ruby launched an all out attack against the Sapphire server. Although the clans on Sapphire were far bigger, they were also at constant war with each other, which made it easy for Ruby to raid them. Ruby would go from room to room, even public rooms, wrecking havoc on all that crossed their path.

Sapphire put up a solid defense which further progressed the decline of the English Ruby clans, eventually leading to the many great clans of Ruby becoming inactive or completely moving to Emerald/Sapphire to rebuild. Ruby was destroyed in the eyes of Sapphire and Emerald, as Ruby became a random foreign server full of people who could barely communicate with the rest of the game.
The mighty CTK was born! - Autumn 2007
GW's existence was now under-threat as Punisher would unexpectedly up and quit Sherwood without giving a reason. GW would now face up against a new powerful but friendly force during September 2007, known as CTK (Chamber of Torture Kings). CTK was founded by IronMaiden and his sister Emma, who both aggressively recruited players and saw CTK rapidly explode in size within the Emerald server in just a few days. CTK was highly inexperienced but their overwhelming numbers was a great threat to BW and GW, even legendary fighters such as LuBu flocked to CTK to help train them. GW were able to beat back CTK several times at first, however, after just a month, GW began to struggle as CTK became more experienced and more numerous. CTK were now considered the dominant force on Sherwood. However, CTK were actually known as being quite friendly and would soon request an alliance with BW instead of going to war with everybody like many clans did in the past. CTK knew of BW's past reputation as the most powerful clan and would ask for some sort of friendship with BW. However, even though BW weren't at their peak, their "arrogance" was still as large as ever and would go on to see CTK's request for friendship as "petty begging". BW would turn down CTK's offer several times before eventually agreeing to an alliance "they keep begging all the time so let's just accept it for now". This led to a very unstable alliance.
On October 3rd 2007, a clan, known as DV (Deo Volente), founded by WolfBane, would be created (DV would go on to be a powerful clan for several years, but during this time they were a new inexperienced clan). CTK would take notice and offer an alliance with DV instead of trying to score easy victory points against the newly formed clan, of which DV happily accepted as they saw CTK as a "superpower". Together they formed a very strong alliance and pushed CTK to becoming the uncontested number 1 clan on Sherwood.
A clan known as BA (Blue Angels) was another large and actively aggressive clan on the game that would play a heavy role in putting a stop to CTK's dominance. BA was founded by Apollo in 2006 but came to be a huge annoying force around this time; raiding nearly every clan. BA did not care about alliances and were quite mindless in who they attacked. They very often attacked BW just because they could, whereas many clans usually went to war for a specific reason. Below is a picture of one of many times BW were defending against BA. BA did not have the strongest fighters but they were relentless with their attacks and saw many victories. At this point, BW still had a fairly strong defense but was very passive as to focus on stabilizing their clan. BW started becoming known as "the clan that sits in base all day doing nothing". BA was also ferociously attacking CTK and DV but wasn't able to score any real victories against such an alliance on their own.

CTK betrayed and enraged - Winter 2007
CTK and DV continued to be BA's main rivals and would make it incredibly hard for BA. However, BA was infamously known for fighting until it appeared they were winning and would then claim a "win" and then disappear. This method saw BA "win" many battles, although many hated BA for it. CTK and DV were on the verge of ruling Sherwood throughout the rest of 2007, until... Apollo BA "ruins everything". Apollo was spreading rumours about how CTK were a bunch of noobs and losing every raid against BA. He made BA appear to be a huge threat to CTK's allies. From this, he managed to ally with DV while still attacking CTK! IronMaiden was recalled shouting "Are you serious DV?!" This prevented DV from helping CTK against BA, which severely demoralized CTK as it was like having a family member throw you to the wolves to save themselves. A quote from IronMaiden "What worth does DV have as an ally if it's going to sit there and watch BA attack us?" IronMaiden of CTK was so hurt by this that he irrationally launched an attack against DV, who by the way were still allied together! BA would then seize this opportunity to engage in a big battle against CTK and add ever-increasing pressure upon CTK (see picture below. Also this is when the graphics on the game were updated November/December 2007).

As the war between CTK vs DV and BA raged on, the situation suddenly became even more dire for CTK, as BW shockingly accepts an alliance with BA, the same BA who had been constantly battering them with troops during their weakest moment. CTK were further enraged with this new alliance and so CTK, yet again, irrationally launched an attack against another ally, BW of which BW easily defended against. This now forced BW into the war in December 2007. Now BA, BW, and DV + their many allies such as GW, TRE, UA, NWG, RIFFS, IF, AND TAO were all against CTK and thus CTK were now under intense pressure and threat from every clan on Emerald. The CTK / DV alliance was no more and the once deep friendship turned into deep hatred which made battles incredibly long and gruesome. CTK decided to flee to Sapphire as dealing with DV, BW and BA and a bunch of other clans together proved too much. IronMaiden was quoted saying "fighting DV every time for 8 hours long is too much pressure". It appeared that CTK were on the verge of certain defeat...
CTK's survival - Winter 2007
As CTK set up a new base in Sapphire, they went searching for new allies as they had the whole of Emerald against them. CTK was in big trouble and desperate. CTK was a large force in Sapphire and the clans there weren't involved in the on-going war in Emerald. Thus, many of the clans in Sapphire allied with CTK, notably POW, NRG, BC, ECX, KOV and a remade version of The Horde (more about this version later), who were all smaller clans compared to CTK's enemies, and were subsequently dragged into the war. However, when combined they were a strong alliance and very loyal to each other. BA, one of the aggressive clans, followed CTK to Sapphire thinking CTK were on the verge of defeat and not realizing that CTK had just formed a powerful alliance. CTK's allies kept on reinforcing CTK which constantly overwhelmed BA. BA had no choice but to flee back to Emerald where their temporary allies were. CTK and their allies set out to attack the alliance in Emerald. The alliance in Emerald was unstable as they had only united together because of CTK's enraged attacks caused by BA's rumors. They deeply hated one another, thus, the alliance in Emerald was only an alliance on paper. This led to the the strong CTK alliance overwhelming the weaker individual clans and eventually caused them to officially break up. The young DV clan was left to defend themselves all alone, in which CTK battered them constantly over and over again as a reminder not to mess with the mighty CTK. DV were struggling to survive and were surely about to be defeated until the leader of DV, WolfBane, and the leader of CTK, IronMaiden, met for peace talks. From the peace talks, the old alliance was reformed and the war was officially over. CTK and DV would enter 2008 and both dominate the entire year, once again pushing CTK to become the number 1 clan.
KO would now spend most of its days in /join 83 and go on to inspire the creation of the "PVP community". /Join 83 was originally KO's base, but eventually became a public room for the best fighters. The PVP community started becoming more valued than clans, thanks in part to KO and their "KO tour" over the year, which spread the news across Sherwood about elite fighters. Also, Riffs (Red Indestructible Ferocious Fighters) another “elite” group and also a clan for a while, heavily influenced the rise in the PVP community throughout 2007. Riffs was founded by Spendorf and led by Lubu, an ex-KO member. Although Riffs was not intended to be an elite group, they put up barriers to prevent noobs from joining. To get into Riffs you had to defeat/draw with a current Riffs member within 5 minutes. Those who got in were seen as the best of the best, which led to many great fighters such as Sharky, Eternal, Tonka and many more... flocking to Riffs. Riffs became such a big name on Sherwood which led to many people wearing fake Riffs tags just to appear "cool".

The Year 2008
Entering 2008, clan activity declined for many old players as they became more focused on trying to become the number 1 fighter. Several top fighter sites emerged during this era, with lists as big as 300 fighters (this was possible as thousands of people were actively online 24-7). Exile, was commonly listed as number 1 by default due to being a well-known fighter. However, during late 2007 and throughout 2008 and beyond, other fighters, new and old, became more involved, names such as Psalms, Pein, Reptile, Snake, Bounce, Bossman and many more... (go to the archive tab on the menu of this site and click the "legends" links, which will give you a list of a lot more names). Many of these fighters have at some point at least been within the top 5 (a big deal back then as you had to be better than thousands of other players unlike today in 2016).

The on-going Emerald War - Early 2008
At the start of 2008, a fairly new clan known as IKO, Infamous Knights Omen, would emerge in Emerald. They would soon ally with FFL (Fighters For Life) in the on-going battle with EW (Elite Warriors), which was brought back by Eternal.

EW were the dominate force for awhile and caused trouble with the newly starting out IKO. However, IKO began to rapidly grow in size as other clans in Emerald began to lose members. EW had no choice but to ally with EcX, as EW were losing members. EcX and EW put up a number of fights against IKO and FFL but were mostly overwhelmed each time.
Eternal would give up on EW once again. FFL soon died out too and EW and FFL would never be heard of again. IKO would continue to play in small roles throughout the next couple of years. However, IKO from this point were no longer taken seriously as they began to clown around all the time, name-hiding as Powerrangers, terrorists, and crude names such as "HairyVagina". IKO saw themselves as balancing Sherwood, taking it from its dark and serious side to "having fun".
Gods Of War - Early 2008
A clan, known as GOW, Gods of War, would play a major role in the many wars to come. GOW were created from the remnants of The "fake" Horde. The "fake" Horde was a clan made in the honor of the previous Horde, led by Exile. This new Horde was made by a player called BK during the winter of 2007. This Horde faced a lot of name calling such as "wannabes" and "fakes". They did play a small part in allying with CTK in the fight against BW, DV and BA during winter 2007, but nothing significant. However, they are worth a mention as they gave rise to the creation of GOW. It started out with a player named Rambo who would seek to create a new clan with BK who was struggling to maintain his version of The Horde. Together they created GOW, Gods of War, and would both be known as King-BK and King-Rambo.

GOW initially inherited the on-going war that BK had with DV. However, a larger force was coming for GOW, known as LD (Legendary Dynasty, founded on March 16th 2008 by Tao. GOW had to call for a temporary alliance with DV and focus on destroying LD (See video below of GOW and DV attacking LD). LD allied with BW and were pushing GOW back as LD were actually two large clans merged together.
BW Under-threat Once Again - Summer 2008
A real life tragedy would soon be upon Tao, founder of LD, during the summer, forcing him to quit the game. Thus, LD dwindled away on July 16th 2008 and GOW claimed the "win" and continued on. At this point in time, the other leaders of GOW weren't as active as before. This led to King-Rambo declaring himself Emperor of GOW in which he resumed total control. GOW were strong but they were no match for BA and CTK, who were both considered the superpowers of 2008 and were both engaged in a raging battle. Rambo's first decision as Emperor was instead to wage an all out war against the smaller and unstable BW. At this point, BW were mostly made up of recruits as many of their battle-hardened veterans had quit the game.

Rambo's first decision as Emperor was instead to wage an all out war against the smaller and unstable BW. At this point, BW were mostly made up of recruits as many of their battle-hardened veterans had quit the game.
However, these recruits were still numerous in size and GOW were not as strong as before. Thus, GOW had to seek an alliance with another clan. However, suddenly, an old enemy clan of GOW had returned to the game. LD Legendary Dynasty was reborn September 19th 2008 but were not as strong as before. Instead of GOW attacking its old enemy, Rambo came up with the idea of allying with them instead to attack BW. This new LD shockingly accepted the alliance and turned against their former ally, BW. Both GOW and LD combined forces to create an overwhelming force.
GOW and LD soon launched a number of attacks against BW. BW were overwhelmed and beat each time. BW were enraged by these attacks and thus, snowman-BW, irrationally ordered BW to counter attack (BW were having high rank issues and thus low ranks had to take control). This ended up devastating for BW and had to soon order a retreat. This demoralized BW as many members did not want to retreat no matter what.
Things were looking bad for BW, although they would never admit it to their enemies "BW doesn't lose!". However, luck suddenly struck for BW as DV were "forced" to ally with them and help them against GOW and LD. DV allied with BW due to CTK and BA deciding to end the war with each other. When DV heard about CTK and BA ending the war with each other, this terrified DV as they thought the two superpowers would ally and turn against DV. DV would not stand a chance if that happened. Thus, DV quickly allied with BW and acted like they were coming to help BW. Of course, BW accepted them as an ally as BW were in trouble themselves. Although, funny enough, CTK and BA ended up fighting again! (Strong evidence claims that it was actually DV's spies in CTK that were spreading rumors to both BA and CTK members, which manipulated them into going back to war with eachother). DV were now stuck in an alliance with BW and were forced to help them. COL eventually joined in to help both DV and BW. However, GOW and LD were still too much for BW, DV and COL. Until...
Two major events occured at once. Firstly, a rebellion started within GOW, due to Rambo giving too many people the rank 'King' and restricting what they could do, this led to the formation of a new clan called GOWRebels, which temporarily weakened GOW. Secondly BW and COL launched an unexpected attack against the weakened GOW, in which GOW were easily overpowered on October 19th 2008. Rambo felt he had "let GOW down". Soon after, the GOWRebels would quickly reunite with GOW, "how can we rebel if GOW is dead?". However, GOW were already on the verge of collapse and thus, Rambo started becoming inactive and GOW soon faded away.
DV, "Cowards" or "Cunning"? - Autumn 2008
With GOW out of the way, the only major war happening was between CTK and BA. BW at the time, were about the 4th strongest clan, whereas CTK were the strongest. Thus, CTK thought it wouldn't be too much trouble to also start a fight with BW. This left DV in a major predicament, and had to decide between helping CTK vs BW and BA or on the other hand, help BW and only have to deal with CTK. DV decided to remain allies with BW and help against CTK. DV felt it had "no choice" but to remain allies with BW. This may have proven to be a big mistake, as CTK always saw DV as close friends and always tried to remain as such. To make it worse, Apollo, founder of BA, wanted to take some time of Sherwood. Thus, BA went inactive! DV's tactical decision to not end up in a war against BA, somewhat back-fired. Things were looking very grime for DV as they were only allied with BW, who weren't really strong enough to help DV. DV thought about betraying BW and asking CTK for forgiveness until a stroke of luck would soon come swooshing in to help DV out of this predicament...

CTK are in trouble - Autumn/winter 2008
GW, Ghosts of War, a powerful clan from summer 2007, once mortal enemies with BW, had returned stronger than ever, due to Punishers return, and were almost as powerful as CTK. This came as shocking news to everyone as to how GW was able to become so strong so quickly. To DV's delight, GW was only interested in fighting the strongest, and so this time around, they left BW and DV alone and attacked CTK! DV no longer had to fight against CTK and so they hid and stayed low during the battle. GW was energized and was beating CTK. CTK was beginning to become demoralized and so they had no choice but to call for back up. CTW, a smaller clan, but an off-shoot of CTK, were asked to come and reinforce CTK. GW was not expecting CTK to be even bigger than it had appeared to be, and thus, GW was suddenly demoralized by such a force. GW went from pushing CTK back to now being pushed back by CTK/CTW. GW put up a good fight but Punisher, once again, quit, and GW collapsed and would never be seen again. DV was now worried that CTK would remember what DV had done to them and so DV's planted spies in CTK were ordered to help stir up a fight that was currently happening within CTK's ranks. CTK began to weaken and DV saw its opportunity to quickly ask for a truce so that CTK wouldn't regain its strength and destroy DV. However, CTK continued to weaken by the end of 2008 and quickly went from being the number 1 clan throughout most of 2008 to suddenly becoming one of the weakest. To make matters worse, BA had returned in December 2008 to finish off the already dying CTK, with the help of EcX and PwN, Pure War Nation (a new clan created by Spirit and Duchess which would enter into 2009 and recruit two of the best fighters at that time, Psalms and Reptile). DV and BW were now both considered the two superpowers for the remainder of 2008, of which DV would later continue to grow and become a powerful force.

Towards the end of 2008, a new powerful group would also emerge, known as ArK (Absolute Righteous Knights). ArK, was founded by Reptile, and would only allow five of the best fighters on Sherwood to join. The group was the most strictly run group/clan ever made because If a member lost to someone in a PVP, they would automatically be kicked out of ArK and replaced by the person who won the fight. This led to hundreds of players searching for ArK members to beat in a PVP so they could try and get them kicked out of the group.
